3 Best ways to make money as a stay at home mum

This post is for all you stay at home mums and erm.. dads too who are looking for ways to make money as a stay at home mum/parent.

I’ve compiled up a few great ideas for you, which are long terms and enjoyable to do.

I’m a stay at home mum myself and guess what? I love it!

Below are tried and tested ways you mum’s can earn too.

Let’s dive in.

Non tech savvy jobs from home

You don’t have to be tech savvy to earn money. Many work at home jobs can include offline ways to make money also.

Offline jobs include, at home childcare, catering, cooking, running errands for people, or even dog walking, etc. Some of these may involve leaving the home, but it’s nothing like being stuck in an office 9-5.

You could look into network marketing sales opportunities also, but I’ve found many over-promise and under-deliver, especially for busy mums who might not have time to sell, sell, sell or recruit consistently.

If you like the sound of selling you can check out my post here on how network marketing is done.

Other offline jobs can include freelancing opportunities like photography, music, gymnastics or art. You could also consider teaching lessons from your home or even home school teaching.

To spread the word of your new chosen service you can advertise at local schools or check out your community centre, to see if they offer a job board where you can post your skills.

You can hang up your poster and even run an ad on Craigslist or your neighbourhood group on Facebook. Spreading the word will help your new service get recognised and bring in the money.

Selling Online

Selling online has become a viral trend. From anything lying around the house to brand new items, you can literally sell it!

If you’re crafty or artistic, you could look into starting your own Etsy business, selling crafts online. You can also make these and sell on your Shopify business.

eBay is another great platform to sell stuff online, along with Amazon.

You can see here how I manufactured and began selling my own product on eBay.

If going to the post office to drop off your orders is not your thing, you can always look into dropshipping. Dropshipping is a way of selling items which are not in your physical inventory.

What is dropshipping? and what trustworthy companies you can start with.

Virtual Jobs

With virtual jobs online you can earn anything between £200 onwards monthly.

If you have office experience then this will most likely be a breeze for you.

You can work as virtual call centre agents, admin support, bookkeepers, social media managers etc, the options are endless.

Virtual tasking is taking on tasks like emails, making calls, or following up on administrative jobs, but you can work from home and often you can even set your own schedule! If you’re great at writing, try being a freelance writer or if your good at editing photos you can consider selling stock photos.

Other virtual jobs include earning money through survey sites like Inbox Dollars & Swagbucks .

You can check out the best survey taking sites here.

Blogging

After trying all the above (and still continuing some of the above mentioned work at home jobs) my needle landed on blogging.

I didn’t think you could earn from blogging, but once you start earning you can easily throw any 9-5 job out of the water. The earning potential is endless.

Blogging is using your writing skills to share knowledge and experiences on a social blogging platform.

You don’t need experience to begin blogging, you just need passion and some goals ofcourse.

A blog can pay income in various forms such as advertising, sponsored posts, affiliate marketing, products and services etc.

If you’re looking for ways to make money as a stay at home mum, I would recommend to try a few different ways to earn money from the list above.

Once you have tried a few ways, you will begin to realise where your passion lies and that can then be followed through to make it into a full time income.

It is definitely possible to earn a regular income and even more from home AND earn enough money to make a comfortable living.

Let me know in the comments below what method you use to earn money from home.
