11 Best Keyword Research Tools For SEO

1. Ubersuggest

Kicking it off with the platform I use, to find keywords – Ubersuggest.

Ubersuggest is a free platform which allows you to find keywords and their ranking power. It also advises on which low competition keywords you can use for your blog or online store.

Ubersuggest comes with a variety of ad ons when you purchase the membership. However for the basic keyword analysis, I stick to the free version as it gives enough information to get ranked for.

2. Soovle

This tool Scrapes suggested keywords from multiple sources, such as Google, YouTube, Bing, Yahoo, eBay, Amazon and more. It gives you all the data in one place so you don’t have to search on each source to see what keywords are getting the most awareness.

It’s a good way to find untapped keywords that your competition doesn’t know about. Soovle isn’t a tool that many big competitors use, so this hidden jewel can come very handy when sourcing out upcoming hot trending keywords.

You can easily save your favourite keyword ideas with Soovle’s “drag & drop” saved suggestions feature and download these onto a CSV file.

Best thing about this tool is that it’s free.

 3. Ahrefs

A very high powered tool used commonly by the big G’s

Ahrefs “Keywords Explorer” feature is a sneaky little tool which can scrape a lot of information about a particular keyword in quick time.

It gives you SUPER in-depth information on each keyword.

You can expect your keyword to get data such as search volume, first page competition, how many searchers actually click on a result, who’s using the keyword etc. It’s a nifty tool to learn how to overcome your competitor by sniping the keyword and making it better on your platform.

The Keyword difficulty feature on Ahrefs tells you EXACTLY how many backlinks you’ll need to rank on the first page of Google. This is super powerful information.

So no more guessing on how to overcome your competitor. Ahrefs tells you how to do it!

4.Jaaxy

Finds you thousands of related keyword ideas within minutes.

This is a simple tool to use and gives you LOTS of different keyword ideas. It also provides more in depth data on each keyword too, such as competition, search volume and potential traffic.

Jaaxy has a QSR feature which stands for “Quoted Search Result”.

This allows you to see how many other websites are trying to rank for the same exact term.

Top Tip: Always try to find low competition keywords as they give you a better chance to rank #1.

5. Moz

Find keywords that will generate the most traffic.

Moz’s Keyword Explorer does an awesome job of finding “lateral” keyword ideas. It allows you to find keywords that will generate the most traffic.

It breaks down keywords and provides unique suggestions that you can use on your platform which you won’t find anywhere else.

Moz keyword explorer has two amazing features including Organic CTR and Priority.

These two awesome features let you know how many clicks you can expect to get from your target keyword.

Organic CTR gives you the number of clicks you can expect to get if you manage to rank on the first page of Google.

Priority is an overall score of whether or not you should target a particular keyword. This is a big time saver especially if you need to get the job done fast.

6. Google Keyword Planner

Google is where all the magic happens right?

Although this tool is pretty basic, it’s pulling data directly from Google itself, so you know it’s accurate.

Google keyword planner, is more of a planning tool than research tool. It allows you to see how much advertisers are bidding on a keyword.

The data is super reliable and is great when paired up with Google Ads.

7. Keywords Everywhere Extension

Although Keywords Everywhere is not a free tool it is pretty handy when providing keywords, as it shows keyword data from the top visited websites globally, including eBay, Amazon Google, etc.

They have a chrome extension which shows you the ranked keywords in one place. So you don’t need to use another tool to further analyse the data, it’s all in the extension. Awesome!

You can get a list of keywords related to your search term and find keywords that your target customer searches for when they’re not searching for what you sell/promote.

For example, when you search for “SEO Tools”, You will get other search terms which were also searched for such as, “Google Keyword SEO”,”Free SEO analysis”,”Free SEO tools”.

8. KeywordTool.io

Here’s another amazing tool I would suggest. This tools allows you to pick the platform you require your keyword for and it then filters to give you those most used.

Keyword Tool gives you A LOT of keyword suggestions.

You can easily filter, drill-down or expand the results to find the right keywords for you.

A super hidden feature with this tool is the “Analyse Competition” tab. You just need to enter a competitor’s site and the tool will generate a list of keyword ideas based on that site’s content. You can easily keep and eye on your competitors keywords this way and utilise them in a better way on your own platform.

9. Keyword Snatcher

This tool snatches over 1000 keyword ideas in a single search.

It’s a good tool for those who need ALOT of keywords and those who need them quickly. This tool does just that.

It’s super simple to use also.

Just enter the main keyword you need ideas for and hit “Get Suggestions”. The tool will then generate tonnes of ideas for you within minutes.

Keyword snatcher does what it says in the name and doesn’t go further than that. You won’t get the search volume for each keyword or any other metrics. It’s a simple tool just to generate mass related keywords which can then be used.

The tool does however, let you focus on keywords that are a certain length, like terms that are at least 4-words long.

This makes finding long tail keywords MUCH easier and we all know how much Google LOVES long tail keywords.

10. SEMrush

SEMrush is by far one of the best keyword tools on the market. It has a versatile way of finding keywords that you can use to outperform your competition.

Instead of showing you keywords that attain the most attraction and volume, SEMrush shows you the list of keywords YOUR COMPETITORS already rank for.

This makes it way more fun as you can focus on your competitors keywords to make a better post and rank higher in Google than they are. Hehe!

11KWFinder

Last but not least, KWFinder.

A powerful keyword tool that’s easy to use and provides a lot of nifty data.

KWFinder has some pretty cool features including a keyword difficulty ranker.

This tells you how hard it will be to rank for that keyword.

When your looking for keywords, you may focus on the most popular search terms people would look for such as “weightloss”. However ranking for this term would be super difficult since it’s such a generic keyword.

The keyword difficulty feature will breakdown exactly how difficult it will be for you to rank for this word and alternatively what related keywords you can use to rank for instead. Super Time Saving!

Overall

Keywords are a great way of getting your site to rank higher to obtain the most traffic and higher ranks on Google.

Remember:

  1. Long tail keywords are the best to go for. (more than 4 words in 1 keyword)
  2. Always find related keywords which people may search for also.
  3. Ensure to mention the keyword in places such as titles, descriptions, headings, and tags. You can learn here on how you can use keywords to get your site recognized by Google FAST.
